Profound History

It all started after a long tired work day in april 2012, time +- 2130hrs. I sat in front of my laptop and thought to myself....hmmmmm... what should I be reading tonite??? something light and easy, away from work...and it suddenly strike my mind...

It came to mind of a conversation I had with fellow watch enthusiast at work in the morning, about our watch collection. I was thinking hmmmm...something that has a history......Yes!!Yes!! what type of watches do astronauts wear in space! Instantly, my eyes and whole being suddenly light up.  Of course you will be saying...aiyo...omega speedmaster. Boring... yes, of course we all know this. Before NASA..before omega speedmaster came into the picture.

Though the site was for kids, I did learn alot from here. My interest and journey for Soviet-Russian Timepieces started right at that moment :)

The First Watch In Space worn by Yuri Gagarin on April 12 1961 @ 06:07 GMT. 
It was a STURMANSKIE,
(or ШТУРМАНСКИЕ in Cyrillic,)

June 12, 1965, Cosmonaut Alexi Leonov wore a Strela watch to space

Vladimir Mikhaylovich Komarov, wore a Strela watch, non-luminous Cyrillic marked watch
or an early, white-dialed luminous piece.

Sekonda was worn by Aleksey Aleksandrovich Gubarev on the Sojus 28 mission in march 1978

• First State Watch Factory or the 1st SWF - in cryllic (1ый ГЧЗ)
• Later it was called the First Moscow Watch Factory or the 1st MWF - cryllic (1ый МЧЗ)

Some of the Poljot watches produced today, are still sold under the 1st MWF mark.

Year 1946

K26 Pobeda(Victory) watch was produced, Josef Stalin approved the name, design and specification


Please look at picture, I bought this watch and loving it everyday. Working well, with accurate time.

• Age of this watch 63 years old

1st SWF produced the "1st type" pocket and wristwatches - Aviator and Buran watches.

Rodina (Fatherland) - on the watch, written in cyrillic

• first automatic watch brand by 1st MWF (1st Moscow Watch Factory)
• 24mm caliber
• 22 Jewels - on watch, the word jewels is written in cyrillic
• Case size - 34mm

I bought this beautiful timepiece from a wonderful ebay ukraine seller. Oh, yes...important information, it was advised to buy vintage watches from ukraine sellers :), if you need any recommendation, please let me know.

the maroon watch strap was changed 'coz the originals were dirty and smelly... hee :) was very glad could get back the same coloured strap, it matches very well with the watch
